At VGIC 2026, Mr. Phạm Đăng An – Deputy CEO of Vũ Phong Energy Group and a member of the Board of Directors of EVN PECC3 – delivered the opening speech for the Smart Infrastructure session. His remarks highlighted the critical role of smart energy infrastructure in meeting the continuous operating requirements of AI systems and data centers, while positioning this issue within Vietnam’s long-term sustainable development strategy. Following the opening remarks, Mr. Phạm Đăng An moderated the panel discussion, which featured representatives from CMC Telecom, Dragon Capital Vietnam, Trung Nam Group, and Kyoto University – organizations with extensive experience in digital infrastructure, energy, and technology investment.

Multidimensional Perspectives on Energy Infrastructure for AI

The discussion offered practical perspectives on three key topics:

• Energy infrastructure development trends for AI and data centers amid rapidly rising electricity demand.
• Challenges related to power supply, the electricity grid, and the need for continuous, reliable data center operations.
• The role of renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and smart power infrastructure in supporting sustainable development.

The speakers agreed that, to ensure a reliable 24/7 power supply for data centers and AI systems, Vietnam must accelerate coordinated investment in renewable energy integrated with energy storage, alongside smart grid infrastructure capable of responding flexibly in real time.
