Installing solar power for preschools is transforming the educational landscape in Vietnam’s remote regions. In the hilly area of Yen Thuy, Hoa Binh province, four preschools—Lac Luong, Lac Sy, Lac Hung, and Huu Loi—have been equipped with solar power systems totaling over 32 kWp. This initiative is the result of the “Solar energy solution for preschools in four project communes under the Yen Thuy Area Program,” a meaningful project by World Vision Vietnam. Developed and installed by Vu Phong Energy Group, these systems provide a stable source of clean energy, directly enhancing the learning environment and well-being of children in underserved communities and demonstrating a powerful model for sustainable development in rural education.

Yen Thuy, a hilly region west of Hoa Binh City, faces significant economic hardships that impact the quality of life for its residents, especially children. Since 2009, World Vision has been implementing the Yen Thuy area development program, targeting the communes of Huu Loi, Lac Luong, Lac Hung, and Lac Sy, which are among the most difficult areas in the district. This long-term community development program focuses on crucial sectors such as child sponsorship, child protection, education, economic development, water and sanitation, health, and disaster management.

To improve the learning environment and children’s healthcare while promoting climate change adaptation, the Chairman of the Hoa Binh People’s Committee approved the solar energy project in late August 2022. As part of this impactful community solar project, Vu Phong Energy Group promptly conducted surveys and began the construction and installation of rooftop solar power systems at the Lac Luong, Lac Sy, Lac Hung, and Huu Loi preschools.

A Swift and Sustainable Implementation

Within approximately one month, the engineering team from Vu Phong Energy Group completed all four solar power systems, bringing clean energy to light up the classrooms. Each system features an 8.1 kWp capacity, utilizing 18 high-quality solar panels along with auxiliary frames and conductors designed for over 30 years of durability. This reliable power source now supports teachers on their journey of nurturing green dreams for future generations. It also provides children with early exposure to renewable energy, fostering environmental awareness and a sense of responsibility for protecting our planet.

Commitment to Long-Term Operation and Education

In early November 2022, Vu Phong Energy Group participated in a handover conference organized by the Yen Thuy Regional Program Management Board in partnership with World Vision Vietnam. At the event, Vu Phong signed a commitment to operate and maintain the solar energy systems for all four preschools. The conference was attended by Mr. Bui Van Hong, Vice Chairman of the Yen Thuy District People’s Committee and Head of the Yen Thuy Area Program Management Board, along with leaders from the Education and Training Department and the Infrastructure Economics Department. During the conference, representatives from Vu Phong Energy Group reported on the project’s development and provided training to preschool teachers on green energy, environmental protection, and climate change adaptation, furthering the goals of clean energy education.

For nearly 14 years, Vu Phong Energy Group has pursued its mission to “Develop clean energy for the green environment and sustainable development.” This journey has included numerous community projects that share positive energy with people and children across the country, particularly in border areas, islands, and remote mountainous regions. These initiatives represent Vu Phong’s dedicated efforts toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), Goal 4 (Quality Education), and Goal 5 (Gender Equality). By investing in renewable energy infrastructure for education, Vu Phong helps build a brighter, more sustainable future for all.
