The successful handover of the Kem Nghia rooftop solar power system, a significant 2.23 MWp industrial solar power system, marks a pivotal moment for sustainable manufacturing in Vietnam. On September 15th, at Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park in Cu Chi, Ho Chi Minh City, this milestone project was officially inaugurated. Developed through a strategic partnership between Kem Nghia (Nghia Nippers Corporation), ecoligo investment fund from Germany, and Vu Phong Energy Group as the EPC and O&M provider, this initiative underscores a commitment to clean energy transition and sustainable factory development. This article delves into the project’s details, its impact on Kem Nghia’s operations, and the broader implications for green manufacturing and carbon footprint reduction in the region.

Overview of the Solar Power System at Kem Nghia Factory

The industrial solar power system at Kem Nghia factory was strategically developed under a robust Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) model. This collaborative effort saw ecoligo International Investment Fund from Germany as the key investor, while Vu Phong Energy Group expertly handled the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) phases, and will continue to provide comprehensive Operation and Maintenance (O&M) services. With a substantial capacity of 2.23 MWp, the system incorporates 3,720 high-performance Canadian 600Wp solar panels and 16 SMA 110kW inverters. Designed for durability and efficiency, it features high-quality support frames and cables built to last over 30 years. Annually, this Kem Nghia factory solar power system handover project is projected to generate over 3,200 MWh of solar electricity, significantly reducing more than 2,300 tons of CO2 emissions per year. This environmental benefit is comparable to growing over 38,800 tree seedlings for a decade.

The Role of Solar Power in Kem Nghia’s Sustainable Development

During the handover ceremony, Mr. Tu, Tran Minh, Deputy General Director of Kem Nghia Company, highlighted the strategic importance of adopting clean energy through this industrial solar power system. He affirmed that this initiative is integral to Kem Nghia’s overarching sustainable development strategy. The successful implementation and utilization of this advanced solar energy system mark a crucial step as Kem Nghia advances its transformation into a smart, modern, and environmentally responsible enterprise, pioneering sustainable factory development.

The Impact of the Solar Power System on Kem Nghia’s Operations

The successful handover ceremony for the 2.23 MWp solar project Cu Chi holds profound significance, aligning with Kem Nghia’s 43-year legacy of excellence. Over four decades, Kem Nghia has solidified its position as Vietnam’s leading nail clipper brand, commanding over 80% of the market share and operating the largest nail care tool manufacturing factory in Indochina. Beyond its domestic dominance, Kem Nghia has expanded its presence robustly into international markets, including the United States, Europe, China, and South Korea. The installation of factory solar panels further underscores Kem Nghia’s proactive commitment to environmental stewardship and adopting a green manufacturing approach.

Representing the project’s investors, Mr. Thuong, Duong Van, Head of Southeast Asia of ecoligo investment fund, shared valuable insights into the project’s successful development. He expressed immense satisfaction with the system’s completion and handover, recognizing it as a pivotal advancement in ecoligo’s renewable energy investment journey. This initiative significantly contributes to the broader clean energy transition in Vietnam and globally, fostering a greener, more sustainable future.
